Hello there!
I hope you’ve been enjoying the summer as we near the end of August.
Like many of you, I have been preoccupied with the return to school. I have been clear that I am disappointed and concerned by the Conservative government’s plan. Ontarians waited and hoped for a safe return to school with a clear plan, developed in consultation with school authorities and health experts. Unfortunately, Ford’s government unveiled a back-to-school plan with inconsistencies and a lack of resources.
As September approaches, parents need to make the decision of whether to send their children back to school. The level of comfort of each family with the measures that will be in place should guide this decision. Ottawa school boards have released their plans and I hope that they can help you in making your decision. You can consult the details of these plans at the following links:
- Ottawa Catholic School Board
- Ottawa-Carleton District School Board
- Conseil des écoles publiques de l’Est de l’Ontario
- Conseil des écoles catholiques du Centre-Est
I was grateful to have the opportunity to discuss the back-to-school plan with members of our community through my first-ever virtual coffee talk. It was an extremely valuable conversation and I am eager to continue engaging with Ottawa-Vanier going forward.
What should we discuss at my next coffee talk? Let me know if you have a topic on your mind!
Have a great weekend,
Lucille
P.S. I’ve enjoyed sharing some great places to go and things to do in Ottawa-Vanier this past week. Check out my round-up for ideas and let me know if you have a favourite spot in our community!
