February 27th Update

  • Community Update

Hi there,

A Year Already!
Today marks the first anniversary of being elected as the Member of Provincial Parliament and I’m feeling so grateful. While it’s been a very different and challenging year for many, I’m very proud of the work we’ve been able to achieve and I’ve enjoyed getting to know so many of you along the way. I am eager to get out in the community and meet more of you in person someday, but in the meantime, thank you for staying in touch with these updates and for reaching out with your thoughts. I am honoured to represent your voices at Queen’s Park and I look forward to everything we will achieve together going forward. Be sure to click on the video above to watch my year in review!

Vaccine Updates
Yesterday, Health Canada approved the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine and secured 2 million additional doses. I know things are challenging right now, but there is a light at the end of the tunnel. We continue to work hard at Queen’s Park in urging the provincial government for a clear, efficient, and transparent vaccine rollout. In the meantime, the Ottawa Public Health website is updated with as much information as they have at the moment. When community vaccination clinics open, we’ll have one centrally located in the riding at the St-Laurent Complex (525 Côté Street). There will also be one located not too far outside of the community at Ottawa City Hall (110 Laurier Avenue West). Take a look at the website for more information on the timeline and vaccination distribution plan.

COVID-19 Stories
Ottawa Public Health has been putting together incredibly moving videos about COVID-19 stories in our communities. It can be hard to remember that behind all the case counts and data reports are people and these videos are reminders of some of their stories. Click below to watch Jeff Hopper’s heartbreaking story of losing his father to the virus and being hospitalized for it shortly after.

Support Local
Did anyone check out my local recommendations from the last update? Here are some more options:

Red Door Provisions on Beechwood Ave. suffered an electrical fire earlier this month, but they’re back on their feet and open for business! Stop by to take out a warm beverage and a delicious pastry. Then, head over to 62 Barrette St to let Ola Cocina take care of dinner with their fresh, authentic Mexican food. Let me know if you have any other local recommendations!

Take care,
Lucille
