September 4th Update

  • Community Update

Hello!

Well here we are, kids are going back to school and many questions still remain. Are your kids going back to school in person? I’d love to hear your thoughts on what back to school looked like this year and how you’re feeling.

I visited a school in Sandy Hill to get some first impressions from parents on the first day of gradual back to school and provided a short update on my social media. Watch the video here.

This week also marks the end of my first 6 months as the MPP for Ottawa-Vanier and what an incredible experience it has been so far. Since March, I’ve spoken in the House 6 times, advocated in the media 32 times, heard from the community through town halls 17 times, presented 23 amendments to a bill in committee, and this is all just the start! I am feeling very grateful to have this opportunity and I look forward to continuing to be a present and effective representative for our community.

Speaking of representing the community, I am hosting a forum next week on long term care and welcome you to tune in. Did you know that approximately 300 of the province’s long-term care homes are in need of revamping or redevelopment? We know that Covid-19 has hit these homes disproportionately hard and it’s shown us that the system is clearly broken. Sign up here to join me and leading experts on Wednesday, September 9th at 7 p.m. for an important discussion on the changes required to make the long-term care system a safe, secure, and supportive place for residents.

Have a great long weekend!

Lucille
