On Saturday, June 1st, I had the opportunity to volunteer at MPP Lucille Collard’s booth during the Beacon-Hill Celebrate Summer festival. When I first arrived, I felt a bit nervous as meeting new people can be stressful, especially since I am still new to Vanier. However, this light stress quickly faded as the entire office team was incredibly friendly and ensured I felt at ease from the start.
Before the event, they answered all my questions and provided clear instructions on what I needed to do as a volunteer. Their welcoming nature made me feel comfortable, and I was delighted to meet MPP Lucille herself.
The festival was well organized, with everyone out in the sun enjoying themselves. Free pancakes, hotdogs, and cake were being handed out, and there were rides for the children. The face painting booth was especially popular, with a line that seemed never-ending!
At MPP Lucille Collard’s booth, I had the pleasure of handing out free goodies to residents and directing them to staff if they had any questions or political concerns. It was an unforgettable experience that allowed me to meet and interact with community members and residents. I also had the opportunity to listen to city councilor Tim Tierney, who was the organizer of the Beacon-Hill Celebrate Summer Fair, federal MP Mona Fortier and Mayor Mark Sutcliffe.
I am honored to continue volunteering for MPP Lucille Collard’s office and already have future volunteering opportunities set. I was happy to met my representatives, I think it is a good idea since they are the people who represent me!
